Spanish Duathlon Championships: Not Only Electrons Run Around the Barcelona Synchrotron Park
2016 Spanish Duathlon Championships (running leg + cycling +leg + running leg), which will be held in the city of Cerdanyola on April 2 and 3, were officially presented in the City Hall on last December 28 (video in Spanish). 1,500 athletes from 9 categories will run on Cerdanyola streets and cycle on the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona campus and the Barcelona Synchrotron Park (BSP) that is the main sponsor of this competition.
In ALBA synchrotron, accelerated electrons run around the building at the speed of light completing about 1 million laps per second. Champions that will come to compete from all over Spain certainly will take longer to complete the cycling lap designed around the synchrotron but they will do it with the same will to improve that innovative companies settled in BSP have.
With 17km of cycling tracks and many paths to walk and run in the middle of 200 hectares of green areas, BSP also offers people a pleasant setting to carry on a physical activity. By welcoming these championships, BSP also wants to make this popular space known and share it with high performance athletes.
