The fourth edition of the Generating Ideas Programme, which is organized by the
UAB Research Park, a Barcelona Synchrotron Park partner, now has its winners. The three winning projects were chosen for their potential applications in the aerospace sector.
The programme seeks to foster entrepreneurial spirit and a culture of innovation, and to help UAB researchers and PhD students from all branches of science transform their ideas into marketable products.
The programme started in October: over eight weeks participants had been working in multidisciplinary teams to develop their ideas and make an initial business plan. During the second phase, the participants were given training in key aspects such as intellectual property and valorization of the business model, funding and presentation techniques. Lastly, on December 3 the finalists presented their projects to a panel of valorization experts who chose the three winners.
Top prize went to the
2D EDGE project that has developed a continuous production platform for high-quality graphene. The
OISensing project took second prize. This project has developed a new material named BL (Bi-Layer) Film, which is completely organic and sensitive to infra-red radiation. Third prize awarded the
Smart Coding Tech project that offers an innovative solution for rapid data transmission and efficient storage.
