Two Research Centers Awarded at the UAB University
Two of the three Spanish research centers selected this year to receive the Severo Ochoa accreditation are located at the UAB University, the Barcelona Synchrotron Park (BSP) partner: the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB) with which BSP has an agreement in order to offer its companies a privileged access to the institute facilities, and the Center for Research in Agriculture Genomics (CRAG).
Severo Ochoa accreditations from the State Secretariat for Science are awarded annually since 2011 to the best Spanish research centers in all fields of knowledge. An accredited center receives one million Euros per year during four years.
With this year’s results published last week, a total of 23 centers have been awarded so far. It can be stressed that 10 of these 23 centers are in Barcelona and 4 of these 10 are at the UAB campus: in addition to ICMAB and CRAG awarded this year, the High Energy Physics Institute (IFAE) and the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) have to be mentioned.
Congratulations!
