Barcelona, the 4th smartest city in Europe
According to the last 2013 ranking of European smart cities made by FastCompany published on January 13th, Barcelona is 4th behind Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Vienna and ahead of Paris, Stockholm, London, Hamburg, Berlin and Helsinki.

FastCompany points out the support of Barcelona for the global smart cities movement as the Smart Cities Expo World Congress or the City Protocol initiative.

Taking into account all the innovations made by the city in this field and its quality of life, FastCompany concludes it is no surprise that the life expectancy in Barcelona is so high (83 years).
